Information about bwSync&Share clients

In order to operate the bwSync&Share service securely and in compliance with data protection laws, data is stored on KIT server systems in encrypted form. As a consequence, we as the operator of the service have no possibility to decrypt the users' data.

We therefore recommend installing and using a bwSync&Share client so that the data is stored in unencrypted form on your own terminal device.
Please note, however, that when you delete files, this data will also be deleted on your own end device as a result of the synchronization.
Conversely, if synchronization is enabled, the data is also deleted from the server when you delete it from your end device.

To install a branded desktop client, download the corresponding client from the following website: https://customerupdates.nextcloud.com/kk1eoZCTo0kI5HpGE3IT/ .

Branded mobile clients are not currently available in the app stores.
You can also download a branded Android app from the above download page and install it manually. In this case, however, updates to newer software versions are not performed automatically.

Alternatively, you can download and use the default Nextcloud app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

If you use the default Nextcloud app or a default Nextcloud client, you will need to enter the server address https://bwsyncandshare.kit.edu.
